Introduction
Department of Physiotherapy is a fully equipped unit for Onco- rehabilitation and also renders training to the Physiotherapy internees in Onco-rehabilitation. The Department has a team of highly skilled Physiotherapists concerned with identifying and maximizing quality of life and ability of movement within the sphere of prevention, treatment intervention, palliation and rehabilitation.
The physiotherapist involves in interacting between patients, other health professionals, families, care givers, and communities in a process to carry out holistic goal oriented evidence based management and research which is aimed at rehabilitation and improving the quality of life in patients through their cancer Journey.
Academic Activities
The department offers training programme in rehabilitation in oncology for physiotherapy students (both undergraduate and post graduate) from various universities. Senior internship programs are being conducted for a period of six months for students who have completed their undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Physiotherapy.
Clinical postings are permitted for students who are presently doing their under graduate and post graduate courses.

Inpatient Physiotherapy / Rehabilitation Programme
The physiotherapist works closely with members of medical / surgical team to reduce period of hospitalization and also optimize patients physical function. The services are rendered in intensive care unit / post operative ward as well as patient room (ward).

Out Patient Department
The physiotherapists use a wide range of treatment in outpatient department to reduce the effect of symptoms like pain, fatigue, dyspnoea and neurological impairments to improve patient’s quality of life.
- Management of Lymphodema Department has got highly advanced equipment to treat lymphodema following mastectomy and other lower limb inguinal nodal dissections
- Pre- Operative Chest Physiotherapy and Counselling The role of the physiotherapist pre operatively is mainly to educate patients, care givers and family members about significance of respiratory and cardio vascular exercises. The chest physiotherapy becomes an integral part for our patients to keep lungs free from infection
- Pain Management Electrotherapy, Cryotherapy, Positioning and Relaxation techniques.
- Manual Therapy like-Massage, Manual lymphatic drainage, Joint mobilisation, Exercise and Movement, Positioning and Relaxation.
- Postural Correction and Gait training.
- Generalised fitness exercise protocols and Cardio Vascular training programs.
