This hospital-based study has employed a novel approach for deep understanding of long-term survival among gastric cancer patients treated with a curative intent in the Cancer Institute (W.I.A), Chennai. This gives a snapshot of survival experience at different cut-points conditioned on years survived from treatment.
This international benchmarking study on cancer survival from 32 countries in transition from Africa, central and south America and Asia is a flagship publication of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), Lyon, France in collaboration with the faculty team in the department of epidemiology, biostatistics and cancer registry at the Cancer Institute (W.I.A), Chennai. The expertise transfers were in developing analytical methodology, data quality appraisal and editorial review.
