Chairman Dr. Shanta and Senior Faculty, Cancer Institute (WIA) with Dr. Mary Gospadorowicz, Medical Director and Dr. Amit Oza, Professor, Medical Oncology from the Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Canada on their visit to cancer Institute on Monday 29.02.2016.

News Brief:

The Director of the Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Canada Dr. Mary Gospadorowicz together with her colleague Dr. Amit Oza, Professor Medical Oncology visited the Cancer Institute on 29.02.2016. It was agreed during the discussions that a collaboration between the two institutions will be beneficial to both. The collaboration will span from educational, training to research. The Chairman of the Cancer Institute Dr. V. Shanta also recollected her own association with the Princess Margaret Hospital in Canada in 1957 and also the gift of the first cobalt high voltage radiation machine from Canada to the Cancer Institute (WIA).

This program will review the current state of the art in Gastric Cancer management, highlighting the key components to epidemiology, etiology, pathology and multidisciplinary approach to Carcinoma stomach which includes disciplines of surgical oncology, medical oncology, and pathology.

This overview is aimed at keeping the postgraduate students abreast with management of Gastric Cancer.

A video of gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy for Gastric cancer will be demonstrated in the CME which will be a visual treat for the training postgraduates.
