First cobalt-60 teletherapy unit in the entire South East Asia including Australia and Japan was installed at the Institute in 1956.
The first indigenous telecaesium unit was fabricated by the Institute in collaboration with the Atomic Energy establishment, Trombay in 1962.
First indigenous therapy simulator was also designed at the Institute in 1965 and fabricated by the I.G.E. and installed in 1968.
The Institute introduced the first linear accelerator in the entire country in 1976.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy was introduced for the first time in the country in 1978.
Hyperthermia was introduced for the first time in the country in 1984.
In 1992, the first intra-operative radiotherapy facility was established in the entire country.
Radiotherapy simulator with cone beam facility, the first of its kind in the country, was installed in 2008.
The first Rapid Arc therapy facility in the entire country was established in 2009.
